A 2,300 s.f. carriage house, enlarged seamlessly with a 3,000 s.f. addition. The architect purchased the 1926 building to expand it for his family, creating a new residence based upon the original themes. The design respects the earlier architecture, while re-casting spaces and making a modern re-interpretation of the interior. The addition includes a dramatic living room, large dining room, entry hall and master bedroom suite. The old living room has become an oversize gourmet kitchen. Outside, covered porches and stone patios anchor the house to the landscape. This is a fully integrated renovation/addition in which the new blends perfectly with the original.
